×ö°®ÊÓƵ

About the course

×ö°®ÊÓƵ is inviting applications for two full-time fee waiver PhD research scholarships, available to start in October 2025, on the ground-breaking Talent25 research programme, funded by Arts Council England and ×ö°®ÊÓƵ. Talent 25 is a longitudinal intervention study that commenced in September 2019 in Leicester City and will run for 25 years. The study seeks to identify potential interventions to support increased engagement in creative activities by children and young people from under-served groups and demographics in Leicester City. Over 400 children and their families are participating in the study. It is the first known longitudinal study examining the impact of participation in creativity and cultural engagement from early childhood to 25 years.

We are seeking an ambitious and innovative student from any discipline, including the arts, cultural engagement, humanities, health, education and behavioural sciences, who has knowledge of quantitative/qualitative research methods. The PhD student will have the opportunity to develop a research topic that aligns with the Talent25 research framework. Possible topics include the impact of engaging in creative and cultural activities on children's educational outcomes and building resilience in children through the creative arts. Additionally, prospective students are encouraged to propose other research areas that align with the goals of the Talent25 initiative.

The scholarships are available to students who are suitably qualified and have outstanding potential as researchers. It is an excellent opportunity for a candidate of exceptional promise to have input into the implementation of the study within a stimulating, world-class research environment. The successful applicant will be working cross-institutionally with ×ö°®ÊÓƵ colleagues. You will be part of a vibrant academic community, supported and supervised by the Talent 25 Principal Investigator, Professor Bertha Ochieng and members of the research advisory group.
